Chiropractic Adjustment
The chiropractic adjustment is a painless, non-invasive method of correcting mis-alignments (subluxations) in the spine and other joints in the body to relieve pain, improve function, restore proper nerve flow, prevent degeneration, and reduce the likelihood of re-injury. Dr. Yin provides gentle treatments and is skilled in the non-force techniques as well as:
Soft Tissue Procedures
Our approach is to treat the muscles and ligaments that support the joints in order to obtain more desirable results.? Dr. Yin has taken advanced courses in the NIMMO technique for trigger point therapy, as well as incorporating neuromuscular re-education (NMR) and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) techniques into her treatments to lengthen injured muscles, heal torn ligaments, and restore normal muscle function.
Physiotherapy
Therapeutic modalities are used to decrease pain, minimize inflammation, reduce muscle spasms, and speed up the healing process. These include:
Nutritional Counseling
Dr. Yin has a personal interest in nutrition. She is experienced in balancing the body¡¦s chemistry through diet analysis and proper supplementation with vitamins, minerals, herbs, and homeopathic remedies. We carry the Standard Process line of whole food supplements and herbs for adults, children, and animals. To set-up a nutritional work-up, please schedule a 30 or 60 minute session with the front desk.
Exercise Rehabilitation
Dr. Yin utilizes yoga, physioballs, therabands, rocker boards and stretching to improve strength, proprioception, stamina, flexibility AND to maintain overall health and well-being. Most often, these exercises can be performed in the comfort of your own home and can improve the effectiveness and stability of your spinal correction between treatment visits. Lifestyle coaching is also provided to correct certain habits that may be aggravating factors and to encourage more active lifestyles.
Massage Therapy
An effective adjunct to chiropractic treatment that relieves muscle aches, reduces stress, increases circulation, promotes restful sleep, strengthens the immune system and restores overall muscle health. Clinically trained and supervised therapists utilize a variety of techniques from Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue, Sports Injuries, Trigger Point Therapy, Acupressure, and Prenatal. Gift certificates for massage sessions are also available for purchase. Why not treat yourself or a loved one to a soothing experience?
Kinesio Taping
Kinesio Taping has become the gold standard of therapeutic rehabilitative taping. This specific ?technique involves taping over and around muscles in a systematic way to support or to prevent over-contraction and activate the body's own healing process by activation of the neurological and circulatory systems. It is most commonly used in the acute stage of rehabilitation for treatment of muscular disorders and lymphedema reduction. This method of taping uses a uniquely designed and patented tape to give the patient support while maintaining full range of motion. Dr. Yin has personally witnessed the dramatic healing benefits of applying Kinesio Tape to acute sprains/strains and areas of extensive muscle trauma and is trained in the strict applications of this taping procedure.
Orthotic Devices
Often times, lower back pain in adults and lower extremity pain in children can stem from poor foot biomechanics or structural abberations in the foot. Many of these foot abnormalities, in addition to bone spurs, bunions, and flat arches, can be reduced or corrected for with custom made orthotic inserts. Whether you have a history of foot problems or a recent requisite for orthotics, Dr. Yin can custom make a pair to fit your lifestyle needs. This is a procedure that is most often covered by your insurance plan. Contact us for more details.
Ergonomic Evaluations
If you¡¦re like most people, sitting at your workstation for 8 hours a day wreaks havoc on your neck, shoulders, and back. Getting a professional workstation evaluation may be crucial to preventing conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, upper extremity tendonitis, tension headaches, and chronic lower back pain. Dr. Yin instructs patients on proper computer use techniques and is also called to surrounding companies to evaluate workstation set-ups.
